Thanksgiving

I am thankful for my family.
And friends- especially the Vasey family who has accepted our youngest son Brian into their family. That is where he is today.

I am thankful for food.
But, Oh, what a lot of food for just 3 people.
Anybody want to come over?

Fun Challenge!

I checked in at my friend, Jami's blog today and what do you know, she has offered a challenge. I accepted so here is the scoop:

In this tag, you post the 4th picture in the 4th folder of your picture files.
Yep that's it. Doesn't that sound like fun?
Here is my photo.

This was taken at my parent's 5oth wedding anniversary party. Not sure of the exact date this was taken, but sometime in the fall of 2006. Hubby was in Korea so he didn't make it, but this is me and my kiddos along with my parents.
My turn to tag 4 friends:
Peggy,
Tracy,
Anni,
And
Kelly
Let's see that pic.

Have a great week!

Raking Leaves

It appears that I have really neglected this blog. There's just not much going on here in the Wilde house. Nothing worthy of blogging anyway.
Today is Saturday though and Kevin and Katie are out in the cold raking leaves. So, I just went out and snapped a few pics for you to see them in action! Katie is working in the back and Kevin is on the side of the house. We have lots of beautiful trees. But when the leaves started to fall, they really came down! At times it looked like it was snowing big colorful leaves!Katie just came in and told me Kevin's rake broke.
And then there was one.

The Cross Walk

A friend of mine emailed this to me. I don't know who to give original credit to, but I thought it was too good to not post on my blog!

We complain about the cross we bear but don't realize it is preparing us for the dip in the road that God can see and we cannot.

Whatever your cross,
whatever your pain,
there will always be sunshine, after the rain....
Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall;
But God's always ready, to answer your call....
He knows every heartache, sees every tear,
a word from His lips, can calm every fear...
Your sorrows may linger, throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish, by dawn's early light...
The Savior is waiting, somewhere above,
to give you His grace, and send you His love.

May God fill your day with blessings!!

Deer

I wish I could say this is a picture I took, but it isn't. I googled deer and found this photo. Isn't it cool though? We've lived here 3 months now and have fed the deer nearly since day 1. We've seen their tracks all throughout our back yard. But finally for the first time we actually saw the deer last night. It was completely dark outside so it wasn't a great view, but it was cool.
Kevin goes out on the back deck to smoke. He always hears things, so I bought a small mag light for him to shine down into the woods. Last night we heard movement in the woods and he flashed the light down that way. We saw several sets of eyes moving up toward the clearing. Then we saw a doe walk over to the salt lick. She was so graceful and if we didn't know she was there we would never have heard her.
I think we'll have more sightings with the weather turning cooler. I hope I can get some of my own pictures.
Have a blessed day!

Bugs

I really hate bugs. We live out in a rural area of South Carolina and even though we have a quarterly pest control service we see our share of bugs.
I've seen a few too many moving a little too fast in the last week so I am calling our bug guy after I finish this post. Their service is after all guaranteed.

I just now killed one of those ugly palmetto bugs that look like big roaches. And I had to share my creativity in picking it up. I hate picking up the dead bugs. It gives me the heebie jeebies. SO, I grabbed a small piece of scrap cardstock out of the trash, added some adhesive and placed it over the bug. He stuck to the paper and in the trash he went.
No heebie jeebies.

Vote

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

Weekend Recap

Halloween:
Kevin was off so he and I spent the day running around Sumter acquiring the necessary papers and receipts to get our license plates and driver's licenses. It literally took all day.
It seemed like a great night for trick or treating in South Carolina, but I guess they don't do that in our neighborhood. We had all of our lights on, but didn't get a single trick or treater! Sad but true. All of the candy is packaged up and will be on its way to Kansas to Jake, Megan and Brian. No picture since I want it to be a bit of a surprise.
November 1:
Saturday was Kevin's birthday and he had plans to surprise Katie and I. We took a road trip to Darlington which is about 45 minutes away. There we went to a
corn maze called "Caught in a Web".

We had a lot of fun.
Our oven is broken and we are waiting for them to install a new one. Sadly, that meant that Kevin didn't get a birthday cake. Instead we ordered from our favorite Italian place nearby and had a Hot Fudge Calzone for a birthday treat.
Sunday:
My momma's birthday. Sure wish we lived closer so I could celebrate her turning 70. I gave her a call...not the same.
We had a fairly relaxing day. Went to church.
Katie needed to go buy some goldfish for her Science Fair project so we did a run into town for that. She bought 2 goldfish at 38 cents each. Her and a friend are subjecting the fish to different types of music to see how that effects their growth and demeanor. Sadly, Rocky (who listened to Rock music) already passed. We'll have to run to WalMart again.
That's all for me. I'll try to be back with my Menu Monday.
Have a blessed week!
